The power of a simple Thank You is enormous.

It makes you feel good and it makes the receiver appreciative of you.

Alana Morissette wrote a beautiful song called Thank You.

I had forgotten about this song and its epic lyrics, a lovely tribute to gratitude, self awakening and the Law of Attraction.
(Full lyrics at the Bottom of this post).

“How bout getting off of these antibiotics
How bout stopping eating when I’m full up
How bout them transparent dangling carrots
How bout that ever elusive “could have””

It is about taking responsibility for ourself and stopping blaming everyone else for what is wrong in our world.

We must learn that we are responsible for our thoughts and that these ultimately create our health and results.

We must stop reaching for cure all false promises and always try our best. We must learn to live our life to the full and with no regrets of things that might have been if we had just…..

“Thank you India
Thank you terror
Thank you disillusionment
Thank you frailty
Thank you consequence
Thank you thank you silence”

Unless we can Thank and Forgive, we go no where.

Harbouring hatred and bad thoughts only creates more of the same and eventually creates dis ease within us.
By looking at the things, that we think create the problems in our lives, from a different perspective, we often can see them as a blessing, as a reason we are expanding our conscious awareness. There are always two sides to every coin.
Alanis Morisette I think I am right in saying, wrote this after a trip to India where I assume she started a journey of self discovery and meditation.
Thank you thank you silence”
The double thank you for silence, is really demonstrating the singer’s emphasis on the power of silence.
There is such enormous importance in finding time to be quiet and to reflect and to ask for guidance.  Some people meditate in silence, some use guided meditation, some people use prayer- interestingly the results can be the same. An alignment with what you believe to be your Source.
When our awareness expands, we can start to see that the Universe is infinite and that the Laws of the Universe are just as they are. When we start to understand the Universal Laws and make the conscious decision to align with them, then good things inevitably must come to us.
We can choose to play nicely with these Laws and use them to our advantage or we can stay stuck where we are, or worse still start going downwards and backwards. Let us take a simple Law, that of Nature for example. If we want to grow a good crop we must sew it at the right time of year or it will fail.  If we plant a crop of corn we can’t expect a field of potatoes. These laws, like the Law of gravity- just are.  We don’t step off a building and expect not to fall.  We know gravity will take us downwards. When we understand this and we stop trying to fight against them, then we are on the path of understanding. Once we understand we can create an inevitable path, and one that can be repeated at will, to the destiny of our choice.
“How bout me not blaming you for everything
How bout me enjoying the moment for once
How bout how good it feels to finally forgive you
How bout grieving it all one at a time”
She sings of taking responsibility and of enjoying the Now.  It is too easy to spend time in a whirl of negative thoughts and miss what is happening in the Now. It passes too quickly, and seems to pass more quickly as we get older and maybe as we get wiser?!
Enjoy life while we can, for each moment of Now, as once we can think about it, it is in the past, already!
She goes on to say
“The moment I let go of it
Was the moment I got more than I could handle.”

When we stop pushing against everything and just allow things to be, our life changes.

When we stop fighting, our vibration becomes in harmony with Spirit
When we are in harmony with Spirit/Universe/God then it is possible to feel the floodgates of gratitude opening and it is like a tidal wave of wellbeing that floods over us.
The raised vibration must bring back to us a higher vibration – the Law of Attraction decrees that we attract like to like.

We do not attract what we would like and this is hugely important, we attract to us, more of what we are.

So when we feel good, we are aware of more that is good. We attract good to us. Conversely when we feel broke for example, we are likely to attract to us people who empathise with a state of lack and to actually prevent financial wealth coming our way. It sounds too simple to be true, but it is the Law!
Remember the first time you fell in love… they used to say , ah she has rose tinted glasses and everything looks peachy!
But our vibration is so high that we really do notice a different set of things going on around us. We become aware of a new level of vibration. We attract to us a new and expanded world. A glorious world of love and gratitude.
Now if that relationship fails, in an instant we stop seeing all the beauty around us and feel terrible, dejected and downcast.
We meet up with friends and all complain about all the awful things going on in the world. We wallow around in a low level of vibration.
As a little aside here, I love how Abraham (Ester Hicks) talks about this – that when you feel terrible the last thing you need is some sappy friend coming around and wallowing with you and making you feel worse. You want someone, who you know cares about you , but you want them to make you feel better, to raise your level of emotion up the scale, just a little bit.  I love meeting up with people who when the time has finished, you feel better that when you started. Those are true friends.
Morissette continues
“How bout no longer being masochistic
How bout remembering your divinity
How bout unabashedly bawling your eyes out
How bout not equating death with stopping”
I will join with her, lets stop beating ourselves up and let us remember that we are God’s highest creation. We have the ability to choose and we have the choice to align with Source.  It is OK to feel sad, it is OK to show your emotions. It is a good release valve and far better than bottling feelings up inside.
Her final line…”How bout not equating death with stopping”
I salute you Ms Morissette- we have been so conditioned to believe that this is it that there is no afterlife.
I find it so very strange that when so many people believe this , that they don’t stop to enjoy the now. They work to make money, make themselves ill, spend their money on making themselves better and die unhappily and unfulfilled.
We must take the time to enjoy the now, to celebrate this amazing life that we have been given.
No, I am not saying take no notice of what is going on around us, that would be ridiculous, but get a balance.
Get a perspective on life.
Enjoy it now!
“Thank you, Thank You Silence.”
More importantly thank you Alana Morissette for this gorgeous and thought provoking song.
